FEBRUARY CLASSES
“It’s a terrible waste to be happy and not notice it.” —Kurt Vonnegut
What gives you a zest for life? Where can we find zest in the everyday, in the ‘little’ things? In today’s class we consider zest and four other happiness strengths that we can cultivate. We also get energized with active breathwork and a lunge and twist flow.
What stories do we tell ourselves? What stories hold us back and how do we know what is true? Today we ask ourselves four questions based on Byron Katie's The Work to see what might be untrue in our lives and how we can choose to write a new story. Movement includes our strength building series along with a Sun Sal A flow with half moon and warrior 3.
How are you feeling right now? Can you be truly honest about that feeling without judgement? Today we explore the importance of being truly honest about our thoughts and emotions in order to transform them, allowing us to choose how we want to show up in the world. We work on strengthening our legs to develop a strong base and practice balance in half moon and warrior 3.
Today's practice builds on Tuesday's flow making for a full-body practice. In meditation, we explore the questions of what we might want to transform about ourselves and how do we need to show up to take the first step become the person we envision? All while accepting that we can choose to grow AND be perfect just the way we are. We don't need to do anything to be worthy of love.
Inspired by Brené Brown's quote "courage starts with showing up & letting ourselves be seen" we contemplate what this means on the mat and out in the world. Our practice includes our strength building series, shoulder openers, some spinal love, and a goddess flow.
Building from Tuesday's class, we continue our strength building exercises and warrior flow. We also consider body awareness and positivity along with a meditation. All on a rainy Thursday winter morning!
Today we start our month-long focus on strength - our mental and physical ability to meet everyday challenges, and to be our own biggest fans. Our practice includes shoulder openers with a strap, a standing warrior flow, and a few arm and core strengthening poses that we'll continue to do all month long.
