Today is our first class after the time change so we start slow with some grounding floor exercises focused on the back, legs, hips, and glutes. Through concentrated breathwork we start to activate and energize to move into our Sun Sal A&B flow and ultimately into standing balancing postures. All with gratitude that the sun has once again risen. 🙂

The biggest thing in this world, bigger than the ocean and the sky, is your HEART.” —Do Hyun ChoeÂ
Today we start standing for an energizing flow of Sun Sal B variations that include leg strengthening chair poses and chest opening twists — all with the intent to reduce stress and anxiety and start the day with an open and loving heart.Â
ONE DROP Today’s class focuses on side bends — slowly moving through the frontal plane to prepare for our standing flow that builds into triangle and half moon. We end our month considering what it means when one drop of action makes a ripple that expands out from the mat and into the world.
Do you ever feel so irritable and angry that you could just breathe fire? The intense heat and humidity of August here in Eastern WV can cause our pitta dosha to become imbalanced making us quick to anger and lash out — just like a fire breathing dragon. Today’s practice aims to tame our inner dragons with cooling breath work, grounding and balancing poses, and a guided meditation.
Today’s class wraps up our July theme of trust. We’ll check in to see how we’re showing up on the mat and how we want to show up when we step off. We start slow with a seated sequence to stretch the neck and side body and then move into a standing flow ultimately playing with supported half moon. I hope you enjoy!
Today we play! We’ll test our balance through a table-based core sequence and later with a gate-based half-moon sequence, ultimately leaving us an “open” chest and heart.
We close out our May with a standing flow of sun salutations a & b with warrior variations. A lovely end to May that will leave you ready for summer!
Today is the first of our May series exploring expansion — becoming more open than we think possible. We’ll start with a short sequence to prepare for meditation and move into a dance-inspired flow to lighten our day. “It is said that before entering the ocean a river trembles with fear…” —KHALIL GIBRAN, FEAR
BALANCE ON AND OFF THE MAT – Today’s class is a a culmination of our eagle flow, balancing poses, and a meditation on how to honor our values.Â
